For those of you that care about such things, this is the only way to validate whether or not a “Mazdaspeed” AZ-1 is a “real Mazdaspeed.” Without the original selling documents from a dealership stating such, there is no proof that it was one made from leftover dealership stock or someone bought all the parts to put it together.
Now even without these papers as proof, is the car you are looking at a “real Mazdaspeed”? If it is not a 1992 registration, then it’s possible. It could be. We don’t know for certain. One thing I have noticed is there is a rubber lip that goes on the bottom of the front bumper, if it has one of those it should increase it’s odds but still not definitive. It could have been purchased or could have been lost over the last 30 years, who knows?
I have not come across any papers for an M2-1015 but I would assume it would be the same like the ones shown below. For an M2-1015 it would also have to be 1994 or 1995 first registration year.
The images below show original purchase papers from a dealer where the buyer bought a Mazdaspeed AZ-1. They cut their personal info out of one of them so the other one that contained the same info was redacted. The blue Mazdaspeed certificate is one of many warranty information pertaining to Mazdaspeed optional parts that were purchased at the dealer.
